PRESENT: Fr. Ryan, Victor, Jim, Bruce, Terry, Lois and Tony
Fr. Ryan opened with prayer.
FINANCIAL REPORT…the year-end financial report shows the parish is doing well. We have not had to pull any money out of savings since 2006. It appears we will not have to dip into the savings in the foreseeable future. The average monthly collections have increased over those of 2007.
PARKING LOT…before any work can begin on the parking lot a determination needs to be made as to which way the water is flowing through the culvert. We have received two bids to do the work on the culvert but no decision has been made yet. We want to be able to do the complete job together…repair to the culvert and the resurfacing of the parking lot at the same time. The total cost is estimated to be between $130,000 to $150,000.
CONFERENCE ROOM WINDOWS…the broken windows in the conference room have been replaced. No one is sure how they were broken.
BAPTISMAL FONT…the Baptismal Font needs to be repaired. The filtering system is not working and the vendor has been called to repair the font.
PUBLIC RESTROOMS…we have discovered that the piping in the restrooms will not have to be replaced. The water pressure is good and some sprucing up is being done.
RCIA… nothing new to report so far…we are still in the interviewing process. So far we have not had a good response.
FAITH FORMATION…the Sunday Faith Formation program is growing. We have a good supply of teachers and helpers. We have 12 teachers who attended the faith formation program at St. Paul. We will be teaming our experienced teachers with new teachers. We are also in the process of installing software from Harcourt Publications in the large classroom at Dismas North that will be used for Confirmation preparation. Students will be able to access the program from their homes as well. This will also be available to the families that meet on Sundays.
FOOTBALL MANIA…so far 865 tickets have been sold. Sales are lagging and we need to sell about 250 more tickets to be at our breakeven point. Our investment is $21,700. Sales have been good in the past years. This is a good fundraiser for the parish.
LITURGICAL ROLES…we will be adjusting the preaching schedule for the deacons. On those Sundays that the Deacons preach Bruce and Tony will preach at two Masses. Victor will not be scheduled for that weekend. Fr. Ryan will send out a letter to the youth group encouraging them to participate in the areas of service to the parish. We have set aside Sunday, September 28th as the training day for those youth who are interested in becoming Lectors or Ministers of Communion. The readings of the day will be used to train the lectors with their presentations being recorded. All staff members are encouraged to attend.
FAREWELL TO RUBEN…Ruben who has been our Youth Group Director for the last couple of years will be leaving us to continue his education. There will be a farewell reception after the 11:00 AM Mass in Hunter Hall on Sunday, August 17th.
RIGHT TO LIFE STATIONS OF THE CROSS…so far nothing has been planned. This could possibly be done on a Tuesday with the Prayer Group and Women’s Club as well as with the children in the Faith Formation program. Terry and Fr. Ryan will review the material.
RETIREMENT…Fr. Ryan has meet with the Cardinal and has set his date for retirement as July 1, 2009. A parish profile has been submitted to the placement board for any prospective candidate to review.
