St. Dismas Women’s Club Meeting - Thursday, May 8, 2008

Our potluck meeting on May 8^th was a surprise to see all the good food that was made by the excellent cooks. Gerry Kolar thanked the women that brought the food for tonight’s potluck. The meeting began at 7:10 PM.

Treasurer Report $3,511.24. Membership – Mary Bolin reported 34 present.

The Installation Banquet was held at the Waukegan Yacht Club on June 26^th. The food was out of this world and everybody had a good time. We also celebrated birthdays for June & July, which was a surprise. Thank you Dawn. Doreen gave Father a check for $12,000.00

Parish Life – Polka Mass Oct 18^th.

Travel Events – July 23^rd “Jersey Boys” cost $105.00, which includes transportation, lunch & show.

August 16^th – “Old World Wisconsin Country Fair & Farmers Market” cost $20.00 (17 years & older) children $12.00 (5-16 years).

August 20^th – White Sox Game cost $68.00 – White Sox vs. Seattle.

The social for Fr. Hanley & Deacon Nick was held on April 27^th after the 11:00 AM Mass was a success. Gerry Kolar brought cookies, Dawn cheesecake & Doreen brownies.

Funeral – Jennie thanked the women who brought food and worked at the luncheon.

Catholic Women’s Club of Lake County – installation June 12^th at Ramada.

Church Women United – meeting held third Friday of every month.

Senior Luncheon – June 10^th, Mass at 11:30, lunch at 12:15 – bingo & prizes.

A review of the movie Bella was given.

Nov 8 & 9 Bazaar – chairperson Barb Riedel

Rummage Sale –

• Posters are here and ready for distribution.
• Setup on Saturday, May 10^th, Butch will be here.
• Dawn has workers sign up sheet/posters.
• Doreen has contacted Mary Ross for bulletin announcements. She will place newspaper ads. Doreen did some shopping for masking tape, markers, etc.
• Mary Ann Wayer has pop, water and beer for the workers and sale dates.
• Mary Bolin has BBQ made.
• Ann Kundert and Diane Kaski will shop for food for workers.
• Lily Lauwers has the dumpster ordered and the pickup of unsold rummage scheduled. She shop at Sam’s Club for the sale date items (coffee, pickles, bags, etc.)

Woman’s Shelter thanked Laverne Calcari for her help. Yvonne Spinarski thanked Toni Wiese for her corsage.

Vi won $17.00 on the 50/50 raffle.

Meeting closed with a prayer at 8:30 PM. Next meeting will be Thursday, August 21, 2008
