Faith Formation

2010-2011 Registration for Faith Formation (Religious Education)

Registration materials were mailed to all current families in April.  Please get your registration forms turned in ASAP.

For new families: registration forms can be picked up from the revolving display in the church vestibule, the Rectory office, printed from our website, or call the RE office at 847-244-9510 or forms can be mailed to your home.

Class session choices:

Sunday Family Faith Formation (meets twice per month) 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

First Communion Family Faith Formation (meets twice per month) 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Tuesday Youth Faith Formation (meets weekly) K-4th 4:30-6:00 p.m.
5th & 6th grade 6:30-8:00 p.m.

2010-2011 Tuition & Fees:

1 child - $100/year
2 Children - $135/year
3 or more Children - $150/year

$25 Book & Supply fee per child paid at the time of registration

$100 Out of Parish Fee - applied to those families not registered at St. Dismas

Classes begin the fourth week of September.  All students/families must be registered prior to attending class.

Program Schedules

Adult Faith Formation is scheduled on Sundays, Mondays and throughout the year.

Child, Youth and Sacramental preparation are scheduled on Tuesdays and Sundays or Mondays.  (Registration for these programs is required.  Call the Ryan Center at 847-244-9510 for more information.  See detailed Calendars below.)

 Mission Statement/Catechesis

Catechesis makes our parish mission statement a lived reality.  Catechesis emphasizes personal and community faith life within parish ministry and through life experiences.  Catechesis is the process of sharing the Gospel, as the Christian community has received it, understands it, celebrates it, lives it and communicates it in many ways.  The entire parish is invited to make disciples, to lead people to believe that Jesus is the Son of God.  Growing in God's love, catechesis teaches how lived faith builds the Body of Christ.

At St. Dismas, catechesis is relational.  Each of us influences one other..formatively, in community, developmentally, culturally, prayerfully, and by growing in our lives of faith in the risen Lord.
